Some suppose that current times are the best for anyone to be living. I partially agree with this statement, for I believe the current time has positives and challenges. The following paragraphs will justify my point of view and mention another era, which could be fascinating to live in.
Indeed, progress in science and technology has made our lives more comfortable, and there are more modes of entertainment. As a result, people can indulge in luxurious life. Most importantly, substantial medical facilities are available today, due to which the life expectancy has increased significantly. A few centuries ago, humans faced far more struggles, and we were in survival mode. If a person is a bit empowered, that person can comfortably move beyond survival mode and live a life of value and luxury. Furthermore, due to stringent international laws, the borders of most countries are safer than before; consequently, it is a relatively safer time to live.
However, this development has brought some unwanted elements into our lives, for the modern lifestyle has made our lives stressful, and depression is common. Today, humans are disconnected from nature, and most of us are running mindlessly to amass material wealth. Moreover, people do not spend enough time with friends and close family members: even though humans today can have all the material comforts, many are not truly happy.
Another time in history that I believe was a good time to live was around three decades back. I feel we had the necessary technology to make our lives comfortable, enough medical facilities, and ample career opportunities. Still, life was simple and unhurried. People had deep connections, and we would spend happier times with our family members.
To sum up, we have ample facilities and opportunities, yet we are in a constant quest for happiness which is always in sight but never in hand.
