Scientific studies show that our natural characteristics have more influence on who we become compared to any other learning or experience in life. I do not concur with this statement as one may have some external factors or life- altering profound experiences that bring change to our nature.
We all have natural traits, which can highly impact our personality and other facets of life. Indeed, we inherit our core character and mannerisms. Some of it has been embedded in our genes for thousands of years. However, external factors such as family atmosphere and schooling can transform one’s natural qualities. Right guidance, determination, and hard work can help overcome one’s natural limitations, while a non-conducive environment can diminish one’s natural talent; thus, it is said that nurture is more powerful than nature.
In addition, life and destiny have their course, and a person learns constantly and goes through profound experiences that may challenge one’s existing understandings, knowledge, and characteristics. Thus, people change in the wake of immense adversities or monumental shifts in life. For instance, a meek person may be compelled to become aggressive or bold owing to natural or artificial threats. Sometimes a person who has lived a life of a doormat can become a leader if time demands, and the sctrictest people can turn timid and frivolous when they fall in love.
To sum up, studies might have proved that the traits a person is born with are the most dominant, but I strongly believe in this ever-changing and ever-expanding world, some massive incidents impact us deeply to the extent of altering the basics of our existence by bringing some shift to born characteristics.
