More and more oil drilling projects have been taking place in untouched uncharted territories for commercial reasons. However, there has been a raised worry concerning the environment due to such operations. This essay aims to discuss the benefits and curses of such actions before concluding.
There has been a need for more fuel sources in the world today. Thus oil is a commodity of high commercial importance. Many countries have become prosperous because they have an abundance of oil. With the pace and the direction in which the world is moving today, many operations may halt if there is a fuel shortage. Thus, it is only natural for countries to look for more areas from where oil may be fetched. Many such newer options may be in remote places. Thus, looking for more sites is a compulsion and an opportunity to boom.
However, when untouched sites are approached for commercial reasons, the natural beauty and simplicity of those places are compromised, for such oil drilling operations can lead to contamination of natural resources due to contamination of water, air, and soil. It has been worrying environmentalists. In addition, the movement of more foreign people may give rise to increased crime.
I believe the stage at which the world is at today, there is no way we can reverse the gears, and oil is going to be very important for this world. Consequently, searching for oil in remote areas is inevitable, for it can be deferred but not avoided. However, considerable consideration should be given to the environment.
